| THE MEN (AND WOMAN) BEHIND THE MEN | |
| by Keith Millar | |
So, you thought that the Men From The Ministry were showing a few signs of wear and tear. Well, you aint seen nothing yet. Seen at the first recording of the new series of this popular radio show for Radio South Africa (1993/5) was this group, who have been responsible for getting the vast majority of Men recordings onto tape (and thats not red tape). Lets introduce the team, who admit that they are no longer quite the youths they were when first involved with Men. |

The Technical Team
|
Standing, from the left is Ian Kinnear, the baby of the group in terms of involvement with the Men. Ian first worked on the programme some 9 years ago, and is handling the sound effects for the new series. Next is Keith Millar whose association dates back to the early 1970s. Phyl Stander who recently completed 35 years service with the SABC has been involved since the inception of the programme. She has recorded more of these productions than anyone else. Jannie Cilliers, better known as cartoonist Lencil and as editor of Stag magazine, was very much involved in the early Springbok Radio days of the show. Sitting (left) is Robin Davis who first attended the show as a schoolboy, and later became an integral part of the technical team at recordings. Last
is Oliver Hart. He was there for the first recordings of "Men"
in our studios and is still there recording the new series. |
