Mystical Miles: Running Living Beaming is a marvellous book about the deeper experiences life has to offer. And sure, it's about running, about the fullness of what it is like to run. Not quite a training guide though with lots practical tips, it goes further and through running explores the shimmering brilliance of life

 Starting weekly distances

You have to start with what you can sustain for 4 weeks, come smiling out the other end and after a rest up your mileage. Actually its based on what you were doing in November and December (which in turn is based on September and October. The sam 10% increase principle applies. The best too is to have a good two week rest before you start … oh and start on 1 January each year. Enjoy the end of year break … make sure your family and friends get a good dose of your nice side and then start the process that will take you deep into a really rich world:

Weekly progressions

Batch weeks into 4 weekly groups with a rest week or two in them; do a little more each week (the conservative guide is not more than 10 % per week. Because I keep the weeks the same for 4 weeks, I take a jump more than 10% from batch to batch).
