Installing Borland Database Engine (BDE) and Polish.exe. The version I have of the BDE is OLD. Warnings: 1) Your computer may already have a newer version of the engine installed e.g. if you have installed Paradox, dBase, Delphi, C++ builder or other products. Look for a directory/folder named C:\IDAPI - if this directory exists, do not install this version of BDE. 2) Always check for viruses 3) I am an amateur programmer - no guarantees 4) The BDE is a copyright redistributable of Borland and can only be distributed intact without modification 5) The programme may not work in new versions of Windows e.g. Windows XP. It does work with Windows 95 and should with Windows 3.1. Method: 1) create a temporary directory e.g. c:\bdetemp 2) copy bde.zip there and unzip it 3) run the install.exe file from this temporary directory and follow the installation instructions. To install my programme: 1) Create a directory c:\polish (it must be on the c: drive and must be called polish) 2) Copy pol.zip there and unzip it 3) Run polish.exe from this directory (you can create a shortcut or put it on the start menu, etc.) (N.B. 1) I have not put in the ability to delete words - I found the database index became corrupted if I did. But new words/phrases can be added, and it is possible to edit old entries. 2) It is necessary to type words in lower case only.)
