Georg Friedrich came from Straatsburg in Elsas, which became part of France in 1681. He joined the VOC as midshipman and left the Netherlands on a ship, the Adelaar, on 6 June 1723. He arrived in Table Bay on 17 October 1723. He became a 'Vryburger' in 1724, became a plumber in Drakenstein and moved to Cape Town in 1730. He was married to Johanna Mouton, daughter of Jacques Mouton, a French Huegenot, and Francina de Bevernage. On Saturday night 12/04/1749 he was attacked by 4 slave bandits and died in Paarl of his wounds on 12/05/1749.
