Calvin started his Scouting Career, at the age of 7 in 1994. He progressed through the ranks of Cubs, fulfilling the roles of Seconder, Sixer and Senior Sixer. Calvin completed the Leaping Wolf Award. During his Cubbing, he earned numerous certificates and trophies

In 1996 and 1998 - Smartest Cub

In 1997 - Top Cub of the Year

In 1998 - Smartest in the Group

In 2002/2003 - Top Patrol Leader

In 2004 - Smartest Scout and Scout Progress

At the age of 11 he moved up to Scouts and completed his advancement requirements, Pathfinder, Adventurer, First Class and Explorer

During Scouts he attended many hikes and camps and has camped out for some 83 nights as a Scout. This includes the likes of Sanjamb and PLTU, both as participant and as staff. In order to gain the Springbok Award Calvin has had to camp for 30 nights, plan and construct a pioneering project, plan and lead a hike and submit a logbook with a theme and had to be evaluated. He had to show leadership and organisational skills. Over and above this he had to gain a number of other achievement and interest badges. He had to also complete a community service project. With the leadership skills taught, Calvin is also a prefect at his school

To achieve this award takes commitment and hard work. You need to earn this badge to complete it. Not many Scouts achieve this award. To gain the badge, not only takes commitment from the Scout but from the parents as well. Congratulations to William and Lizette and thank you for your support to the Group. Calvin is the 3rd in family to gain Springbok Award - Andrew and Samuel have both been awarded theirs as well

Well done on behalf of the Cubs, Scouts and Scouters of 29th Durban
