Haiku is a new operating system for X86 computers. it is an open-source attempt to recreate and extend the famous BeOS system of the 1990's. With the release of Haiku Alpha1 in September 2009, it gave hobbyists and enthusiasts a chance to be in on the beginning of a new movement in desktop computing. The last version I was active in was Alpha3.
