NEWSLETTER Nov.
2004. 1st TERM 2005 24 Jan - 24 March.
REGISTRATION Mon 24 Jan 19h00- 21h00
Dear
Students/Parents,
Thank you once again for your loyal support and excellent work!
- We
entered 5 graded students in the Trinity International Exams
and achieved 4 distinctions and a merit. Kira
Koopman passed her matric guitar exams with flying colours
as did Candice Lawrence her subject
music for Grade 10.
- Steven
Kukard, Jonathan Walters, and Vicci
Wanliss have completed their Associate of the Trinity
College London ATCL (equivalent to a first year University
level exams and will begin studies on their professional teaching
LTCL exams next year. Several of our singing students also
performed at schools and other concerts this year. Well done
to all those students on their excellent work.
- Tony
Kershaw one
of our hard working adult guitar students is bravely entering
Grade 8 guitar exams next year. Hoping this encourages other
adults to enter exams too.
- I
too performed in quite a few concerts at the Stone
Church Heritage site since recovering from my car accident.
This
cosy, venue with its beautiful accoustics will now continue to
be used for a whole series of concerts, which will form part
of our 5 Year Academy Birthday.
- This Academy
web-site will officially be launched in January with
our FRIENDS of the ACADEMY - Bursary
& Concert Fund. This has been set up to sponsor less
privileged, talented students and keep quality concerts alive.
The fund will be administered by our non-profit CTAM TRUST.
Become
a FRIEND of the ACADEMY - receive
free concert tickets, advertising and many other benefits. And
you will be purposefully helping us to build an excellent track
record of reliability and accountability so that we can become
a successful vehicle for major sponsorship in the future. This
is the way forward in the ARTS TODAY.
PLEASE NOTE the FOLLOWING CHANGES for 2005:
- New
students will be required to audition or complete an
ear test and interview before being accepted. Once accepted
they will be on probation for one term.
- Guitar
students only wanting to learn strumming will
not be able to take one on one lessons with Ms Kinsey. They will
be allocated another teacher or we may run a class situation
depending on numbers.
- Pupils
can do TRINITY exams with us outside
of the school situation and these marks
will be added to their overall matric mark. WHAT a wonderful
way to increase your overall matric percentage and ensure a successful
pass!
Exam
pupils will need to complete at least 2 terms
of 45 minute lessons in the year of their exams. This is
to ensure we have time to teach the ear training, theory and sight
reading requirements as well as the practical pieces with scales
and exercises. Doing exams ensures a much more thorough education
in music.
SUBJECTS: Guitar (classical and light
music); Piano; Keyboard; Voice; Recorder; Violin; Clarinet; Saxophone;
as well as Theory; and Song writing.
Sight Reading and Ear Training are included in the practical subject.
IMPORTANT
REMINDERS:
- All
fees are payable at registration.
- One
terms notice is required to terminate lessons.
- Late
payment penalty fee of R30.
- First
term students on probation.
- If
you miss more than 4 lessons in the term we have the right to
terminate your lessons.
Have
a wonderful holiday season and I look
forward to seeing you all next year for a very exciting and forward
moving Academy.
Sincerely
Avril Kinsey
