2007
Dear Students & Parents,
An eventful and successful year comes to an end. Next year we have plans for
even more interesting classes with incentives for students to enter exams (May
or October), eisteddfods (March). We will also be offering a wider range of payment
incentives and options.
In 2010 CTAM will be TEN YEARS OLD. We welcome suggestions
for our celebration.
At each lesson students are assessed on their progress.
A percentage mark is given for this purpose. Next year all students who achieve
an average year assessment of over 75% will receive a CTAM Certificate of Merit.
There will also be a music book prize for the student achieving the highest Trinity
College London exam mark and the highest mark at an Eisteddfod or Competition.
At this stage reports are optional, however please let us know if you would like
one this year.
Exam News: Several of our voice and instrumental students entered
Trinity College London exams and did extremely well. Singing students Alice
Sholto-Douglas achieved distinction while Megan
Petrie and Kelly Raffino achieved merit passes. Angela
Paulo passed her ATCL professional voice and musical theatre exam, while
guitarists Graham Strickland and Chelsea
Thomson both achieved distinction. Two
of our adult guitar students Gill Farquharson and Tony
Kershaw passed their intermediate
recital exam earlier in the year.
The prize
for the highest markgoes to guitarist
Chelsea Thomson for achieving 93%.
Professional News: Voice student Christian
Marais has been performing as a singer/guitarist in the sell-out show Rock
Evolution at the BMW Pavilion
Waterfront and Angela Paulo starred in her
own show at the
Daniel Pascal Theatre in Durbanville.

Payment
Incentives and Options:
Please note, unlike quite a few other
Arts Academies and schools in Cape Town, who have their teachers
salaries subsidized by 50%, we have not been afforded that luxury
and still do not receive any government or other subsidy. Please
view the CTAM page for term fees. Classes
will be cost effective and worked out on the numbers attending. Please
enquire when you register on Jan. 21st.
In the past fee increases
took place in the fourth term. This year we managed to avoid
any fee increases and are equally pleased to announce that there
are no fee increases for 2008. In fact I have been working with
our accountants to find ways of providing more value to our students
while also providing discounted incentives. We need your feedback
too.
I
wish you all a joyous holiday break and look forward to an exciting
year in 2008!
Blessings and regards,
Avril Kinsey

Please call the teacher concerned, preferably 24 hrs
in advance, if you cannot make a lesson for any reason.
Due
to our full timetable missed lessons cannot just be changed
or necessarily made up.

well enough in advance to make one available).

a lesson is cancelled from our side an alternate lesson will
always be offered.

a late admin fee of R30.
In
the best interests of all, we reserve the right to re-assign
a student with a different teacher if need be.
One
terms notice is required to discontinue lessons.
ATCL
or LTCL exam students need to commit to studies for 1 to 2
years.
