2nd
Term: 20th April – 26th June 2009
Dear Parents and students,
Olga Leonard has joined our teaching staff this year. She is a specialist vocal teacher who also teaches piano and theory of music. We wish her many years with us and look forward to hearing her students perform later in the year.
One of the highlights of my personal calendar this term was hearing the Uruguayan virtuoso guitarist Eduardo Fernández in concert, and having the opportunity to take him and his partner, Lena Kokkaliari editor of Fronimo (the Italian international musicology magazine), around Cape Town.
Eduardo Fernández, who has performed for maestro Andrès Segovia has also performed all the major guitar concertos with many orchestras around the world. Steven Felmore and I had a wonderful day with them sharing insights and laughter. We hope to be able to encourage them to visit Cape Town again with an even bigger concert in the future.

BEST OF LUCK: Graham Strickland has been taking classical guitar lessons with me for close to eight years. He will be performing his Trinity College of Music, London exams (Grade 8). We wish him all the very best as he has worked extremely hard, and is making beautiful music. He certainly deserves to pass well.
